Position Overview
As a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department, you will deliver essential patient care utilizing the nursing process in alignment with established standards and practices in a critical care setting. Your ability to identify, prioritize, evaluate, and manage life-threatening situations is crucial.
Reporting Structure
Reports to: Director of Emergency Services
Educational Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred.
Essential Skills
This role demands strong critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and the capacity to operate independently. Candidates must thrive in high-pressure environments and respond appropriately to emergencies.
Licensure and Certifications
Required certifications include:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within the initial onboarding period
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Completion of Conscious Sedation competency is required within the initial onboarding period.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or Compact licensure that encompasses Virginia is mandatory, along with good standing with the nursing board.
Experience Requirements
A minimum of one year of experience in an Emergency Room setting as a Registered Nurse is strongly preferred.
On-Call Responsibilities
Willingness to accept on-call assignments and the ability to arrive at the facility within a specified timeframe is essential.
