Position Summary:

The Advanced Systems Engineer is accountable for executing technical responsibilities, which include planning, deploying, assessing, designing, and sustaining virtual infrastructure, computer hardware, operating system software, data storage solutions, and database management systems within a sophisticated multi-system framework. This role also involves mentoring junior Systems Engineers.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Architects, deploys, and manages VMware Horizon VDI environments.
  • Architects, deploys, and manages VMware vSphere and Hyper-V Server environments.
  • Conducts comprehensive technical assessments, offers recommendations, and formulates project plans and budget forecasts for network initiatives.
  • Maintains an elevated level of technical expertise regarding network hardware and software.
  • Defines and allocates disk storage for file and database systems on servers and storage area networks (SAN).
  • Trains operational personnel and automates routine operational and maintenance tasks.
  • Develops, documents, and enhances system administration protocols.
  • Prepares detailed technical evaluations, recommendations, project plans, and budget forecasts for server and SAN projects.
  • Maintains an elevated level of technical expertise regarding server hardware, virtual environments, SANs, operating system software, and database management software.
  • Designs and implements high-availability hardware and software systems.
  • Analyzes user requirements, developer needs, and technical limitations.
  • Implements solutions across various operating systems.
  • Integrates new technologies into the existing data center framework.
  • Establishes Service Level Agreements with stakeholders.

  • Verifies the integrity and availability of data center hardware.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in systems or database administration.
  • A comparable amount of education and experience may substitute for the minimum requirements.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in the design, implementation, and administration of VMware vSphere ESXi environments.
  • Proficient in the design, implementation, and administration of VMware Horizon VDI environments.
  • Proficient in the design and implementation of computer server environments, including security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, routine maintenance, and automation of batch processing.
  • Proficient in evaluating and recommending computer hardware and software.
  • Proficient in planning, coordinating, and scheduling projects.
  • Proficient in system analysis and performance tuning.
  • Proficient in the administration of physical and/or virtual servers running Windows, Linux, or Solaris operating systems.
  • Proficient in identifying and resolving complex issues with server and SAN platforms.
  • Proficient in the installation, migration, and administration of cloud-based computing systems.
  • Proficient in the use of PowerShell and VBScript scripting languages.
  • Proficient in the administration of Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Ability to identify, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve data center system issues.
