UTMB Health seeks a skilled Staff Psychiatrist to provide direct psychiatric care to adolescent patients in Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD) facilities and halfway houses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry and experience working with at-risk youth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct psychiatric care to youth patients, including assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans
  • Conduct psychiatric and mental status examinations on referred patients
  • Participate in civil commitment proceedings for mentally ill juvenile offenders
  • Provide clinical supervision to psychiatric mid-level practitioners
  • Ensure compliance with timekeeping regulations and adhere to internal controls and reporting structure
Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O. degree
  • Eligible for Board Certification in Psychiatry
  • Current full, unrestricted Texas Medical License
  • Residency training in psychiatry
  • DEA controlled substance registration
