About ThedaCare
Position Overview:
The Culinary Specialist is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with departmental menu requirements and food production needs. This role involves preparing individual servings and bulk production for various settings, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and prepare ingredients for cooking, setting up the workstation efficiently.
- Utilize appropriate cooking techniques to ensure food meets quality standards for taste, appearance, and temperature.
- Adhere to safe food handling, storage, and sanitation protocols, maintaining accurate temperature logs.
- Review and follow production sheets and recipes, collaborating with the team to enhance food quality and minimize waste.
- If assigned to café production, prepare food according to established recipes while engaging positively with customers.
- Rotate inventory to maintain freshness and quality, communicating purchasing needs as necessary.
- Follow established food safety procedures, monitoring food and equipment temperatures to ensure compliance.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized work area.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- One year of experience in food production or a combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move freely, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- This position is not exposed to bloodborne pathogens during normal job duties.
Work Environment:
- Typically works in a climate-controlled environment, with exposure to heat and humidity from cooking equipment.
- Frequent standing and movement throughout the work area.
- Regular exposure to sharp objects and instruments.
- Occasional exposure to mechanical parts, fumes, and chemicals.
- May experience high noise levels in the work environment.
