About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Tractor Trailer Driver to join our team at GFL Environmental. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong driving skills, attention to safety, and excellent communication abilities.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a tractor trailer truck on assigned routes to collect solid waste and recyclables. They will work closely with customers to ensure safe and efficient delivery of materials, while maintaining accurate records of services performed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety First: Operate tractor trailer trucks safely and efficiently, adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Loading and Unloading: Load and unload solid waste and recyclables from trailers, ensuring secure fastening and proper disposal practices.
  • Route Management: Plan and execute daily routes, taking into account traffic conditions, road closures, and weather forecasts.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with customers, supervisors, and colleagues to ensure smooth operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify potential mechanical issues, report concerns to mechanics, and perform routine maintenance tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Possess a valid CDL with the appropriate endorsements for tractor trailer operation.
  • Driving Experience: A minimum of one year's experience driving a tractor trailer or equivalent combination of education and training.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and navigate physically demanding environments.
  • Certifications and Training: Possess relevant certifications and training in areas such as air brakes, defensive driving, and hazardous materials handling.

Salary Information:

The estimated annual salary for this position is $62,000 - $75,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as retirement savings plans and paid time off.
