The Instructional Assistant I plays a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher in maintaining a safe and productive learning environment. This position requires a high level of organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities- Classroom Support: Assist the classroom teacher with maintaining classroom order, presenting direct instruction, and performing classroom clerical tasks.
- Student Supervision: Monitor students during non-classroom time, including restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, and parking lots.
- Record-Keeping: Perform record-keeping and clerical functions, such as scheduling, copying, and data entry.
- Communication: Provide verbal feedback and written documentation to inform teachers and parents of students' progress.
- Incident Reporting: Report observations and incidents relating to specific students to appropriate instructional and administrative personnel.
- Education: Community College and/or Vocational School degree with study in the job-related area, 48 college credits, or an Associate's degree.
- Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance and Tuberculosis Skin Test.
- Public Health Compliance: Must follow safety and health protocols.
