The Inpatient Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in executing physician directives, ensuring the delivery of high-quality nursing care for all patients, while continuously assessing their conditions and upholding patient safety, comfort, and privacy regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct patient care, assess outcomes, collaborate with specialists as necessary, and modify nursing care strategies to guarantee optimal patient support.
  • Engage with physicians regarding any alterations in patient status, symptoms, and diagnostic results.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to changes in patient conditions or treatment responses.
  • Stay informed about current policies and procedures that affect job responsibilities.
  • Exhibit comprehensive and professional nursing knowledge and skills in alignment with established nursing standards, including the Patient Bill of Rights and the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments on all patients and perform reassessments in accordance with policy, including for geriatric and general patient populations.
  • Effectively assess and manage pain, employing appropriate pain management techniques, and educate patients and families on pain control.
  • Monitor patients' hemodynamic status and accurately interpret the findings.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in cardiac monitoring to detect dysrhythmias.
  • Conduct waived testing (point-of-care testing) in compliance with clinical laboratory and unit policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical condition.
  • Ensure accurate and ongoing nursing documentation, including patient histories, conditions, treatments, responses, and assessments of changes.
  • Provide all aspects of patient care in a manner that maximizes safety and minimizes the risk of medical errors.
  • Engage professionally with patients and families, involving them in the care planning process.
  • Develop a teaching plan based on identified learning needs and assess the effectiveness of the education provided, including family involvement as appropriate.
  • Ensure a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Consistently demonstrate teamwork values.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a hospital environment.
  • Telemetry/ICU experience is a plus.
  • Possession of a current nursing license.
  • Current CPR and ACLS certifications required; PALS preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good organizational abilities.
  • Capability to care for patients ranging from adults to geriatrics.
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • Basic understanding of continuous quality improvement principles.

Technical Skills:

  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • EHR documentation experience using EPOWERdoc.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid RN license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Current ACLS certification.
  • Current PALS certification.

Work Schedule:

  • 12-hour shifts.
  • Availability for all shifts.
  • Weekend shifts required.
  • Availability for holidays.
