Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team at Kaiser Permanente. As a Collaborative Care Specialist, you will work under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Independent Social Worker, Licensed Marriage Family Therapist, or a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor to provide a wide range of clinical psychosocial services for adult and/or child members in a primary or specialty care, mental health, or home health setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Confer and consult with supervisor regarding members' progress and treatment, and may consult with psychiatrist or other care team providers as needed.
  • Provide appropriate support to members' family, including explanation of treatment, instructions in how to support treatment, and interventions to increase acceptance of and adherence to treatment, at members' or surrogate decision makers' request.
  • Utilize resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members' treatment, including referral of members and/or their family to external resources as appropriate.
  • Participate in departmental program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Report safety concerns to mandated reporting agencies.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate, and evaluate plan of care and/or clinical treatment programs for the diagnosis, treatment, and/or referral of Health Plan members with acute or chronic mental or addiction illness.
  • Instruct and counsel patients and their families regarding compliance with plan of care, including prescribed therapeutic regimens and adherence to prescribed medication regimens.
  • May administer specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
  • Complete all documentation of members' treatment and progress in accord with Kaiser Permanente, state, and NCQA regulations and in keeping with accepted community standards within scope of role and setting.
  • Utilize resources of public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of members' treatment.
  • May develop, implement, and evaluate behavioral medicine and health psychology programs in a variety of settings, including primary care.
  • Provide consultation to care teams, primary or specialty care providers, and/or health educators on matters relating to mental health, addiction, health psychology, behavioral medicine, and/or long-term care and advanced care planning.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Social Work (or Social Welfare from a clinical track), Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field required from an accredited college or university.
  • Marriage and Family Therapist Associate License (Washington) OR Mental Health Counselor Associate License (Washington) OR Licensed Social Worker Associate-Independent Clinical (Washington)
  • Prior completion of a practicum or internship in a clinical setting.
  • Once hired as an Associate, an employee will be offered and must work a schedule that would accumulate at least half the required supervisory hours annually.
  • Must be familiar with DSM-V TR as a means of diagnosis.
  • Has experience in assessing a broad range of psychosocial needs, diagnosing and treating, psychiatric and/or addiction conditions.
  • Full licensure expected within 3-4 years of hire.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of social service agencies, state regulations, and professional board standards as is related to member treatment, patient rights, and member/patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practice, person-in-environment theory, and/or psychotherapy research methods.
  • Knowledge of the bio-psycho-social functions that contribute to mental health.
  • Accuracy in assessing and/or diagnosing patients and developing effective treatment plans.
  • Professional maturity and ethical integrity necessary for assuming professional responsibilities.
  • Commitment to quality of service, teamwork, and participation in a highly interactive multidisciplinary clinic.
  • Ability to complete multiple tasks/objectives in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
