Job Summary

The Public Health Nurse II, Correctional Facility is a critical role within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, responsible for planning, coordinating, and evaluating public health and infection control programs at intermediate institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance to institutional staff in the implementation of infectious disease control policies and procedures.
  • Conduct epidemiological investigations with the guidance of the Public Health Branch, California Correctional Health Care Services.
  • Interact with State and local authorities on public health issues.
  • Ensure the delivery of appropriate and timely health care to patients and coordinate interdisciplinary communication to promote continuity of care.
  • Address the ongoing health care needs of patients and promote the timely, efficient, and appropriate use of health care resources.
Requirements
  • Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in California and a current certificate as a Public Health Nurse in California.
  • One year of experience performing the duties of a Public Health Nurse I, Correctional Facility, in the California state service, or two years of experience as a public health nurse/community health nurse.
