About the Role

Avo Photonics is a leading contract engineering services company that designs, develops, and manufactures custom opto-electronic products for a diverse range of markets, including aerospace, military, medical, industrial, and communications.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Quality Engineer to support our aerospace quality system. The ideal candidate will take ownership of and strive for continuous improvement in the procedures and documentation that encompass our aerospace products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Quality Documents: Create and maintain manufacturing documents, including component drawings, inspection documents, work instructions, travelers, and bills of materials, to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards.
  • Manage Quality Processes: Oversee first article inspections, nondestructive testing, and failure analysis, as required, to ensure the highest quality standards are met.
  • Ensure Material Compliance: Verify that all materials used in our products comply with aerospace quality standards, including Reach, RoHS, and Conflict Minerals.
  • Analyze Production Data: Collect and analyze production data to audit and confirm product quality, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Process Nonconforming Product: Develop and implement processes to handle nonconforming product, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Support Quality Audits: Assist with material source inspections and customer audits to ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards.
  • Maintain Quality Records: Ensure that all quality documents and records are accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in quality assurance, with a focus on electronic and/or optical technologies, measurement systems, and inspection tools
  • At least 5 years of experience working in a quality role, preferably in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with AS9100 & AS9003B Quality Systems is highly desirable
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification is highly desirable
