Job Summary

The Erection Superintendent will provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a particular area of discipline. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large self-perform wind projects and be proficient in planning and scheduling using Excel.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and Implementation: Ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule.
  • Review Construction Documents: Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, review and understand contract documents, coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies.
  • Project Schedule Management: Participate in the development and management of a project schedule to include three and six-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Site Logistics Planning: Develop a site logistics plan.
  • Tool and Equipment Management: Manage the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with project partner superintendents.
Coaching, Supervisory, and Development Responsibilities
  • Pre-Construction Planning Sessions: Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings.
  • Supervision: Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews.
  • Mentorship and Performance Evaluation: Responsible for the mentoring, management, and timely performance evaluation of Assistant Superintendent(s), General Foremen, and Foremen.
  • Craft Team Management: Interview, hire, transfer, and if needed terminate craft team members.
  • Task Coding and Progress Tracking: Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards and manage and track work progress and craft productivity.
  • Craft Team Training: Manage craft team member training, ensuring they are current prior to starting the task.
  • Career Development Discussions: Conduct career development discussions with foremen and craft team members.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum eight years of construction experience with two of those years having supervisory experience.
  • Planning and Scheduling Skills: Proficient planning and scheduling using Excel.
  • Wind Turbine Experience: Proven experience with erecting wind turbines and overseeing the entire erection process.
  • Rigging, Torquing, Tools, and Cranes: Proven experience using rigging, torquing, tools, and cranes.
  • Large Self-Perform Wind Projects: Experience managing large self-perform wind projects.
  • NCCCO Certification: Must have NCCCO certification.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel 100% with rotations home every month.
  • Driver's License: Current driver's license.
Educational Requirements
  • Degree: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience.
