Key Responsibilities


The Staff RN is primarily accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, with indirect accountability to the House Supervisor.

The Registered Nurse is tasked with delivering both direct and indirect patient care within the peri-operative environment, utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients across all age groups.

This role involves coordinating patient care with surgeons and anesthesiologists, guiding the OR Technician and other team members while upholding professional nursing standards.

Collaboration with various departments is essential to ensure a seamless continuum of care, promote efficient patient flow, and maintain unit organization and upkeep.

Accountability extends to adherence to regulations, standards, and hospital policies. Participation in Performance Improvement initiatives, unit meetings, and in-service training is expected. The Registered Nurse also serves as a resource for colleagues as needed.


Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

- Current and valid state RN License.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintenance of certification.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
- Current PALS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintenance of certification.
- A minimum of one year of prior perioperative experience or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) is preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
