Position Overview:
The HVAC Installation Team Leader is responsible for overseeing subcontractors and employees engaged in the installation of residential HVAC systems and related components. This role ensures that all work aligns with client specifications and includes conducting thorough quality-control assessments on completed projects. Depending on operational needs, the leader may also engage in service, maintenance, and installation tasks under the guidance of senior management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise a team of subcontractor craftsmen (installers and assistants).
  • Conduct regular site visits to verify readiness for HVAC rough-in and trim installations.
  • Coordinate installation schedules with the planning team to ensure timely project execution.
  • Monitor job progress by phase to confirm completion of work.
  • Facilitate communication between subcontractors and office staff regarding any necessary repairs or punch lists.
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices post-completion of work phases.
  • Schedule inspections with local authorities as required.
  • Manage documentation for billable change orders identified in the field.
  • Collaborate with builder supervisors on-site to resolve installation or design challenges.
  • Address all production-related concerns with homebuilders in the designated area.
  • Foster strong relationships with builder superintendents.
  • Ensure team members participate in all mandatory training sessions.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for performance improvement and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide regular updates and recommendations to senior management regarding team performance.
  • Lead designated teams through effective goal setting, delegation, and communication.
  • Address performance issues constructively, providing ongoing feedback and consequences as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC installation.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience as a field supervisor in residential new construction or a related field.
  • Experience in multi-family HVAC installations.
  • Completed college coursework in a relevant field.

Working Conditions:
The majority of the role is performed in field environments, including hot attics, crawl spaces, uneven terrain, construction sites, and completed homes. Regular travel to various work locations is required. The position involves exposure to construction settings with equipment, elevated work areas, confined spaces, noise, dust, and hazardous materials. Candidates must be comfortable working in all weather conditions while adhering to safety protocols.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle or forklift.
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently.
  • Tasks may require climbing, bending, crawling, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Must be able to work at heights and climb ladders safely.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to hear and understand verbal communication to operate equipment safely.
  • Vision must be sufficient to perform tasks safely and effectively.
