Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Asphalt Plant Operator to join our team at Allan Myers, the largest heavy civil construction and materials production contractor in the mid-Atlantic. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our asphalt plant, managing production processes, and maintaining high-quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain asphalt plant equipment, including automated drum and batch plant systems, to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with quality control personnel to ensure specifications are met and adjust mix formulas and production as needed.
  • Monitor plant status, adjust plant operations, load out material onto dump trucks, and dispatch trucks to meet production targets.
  • Communicate effectively with internal paving crews, project teams, and external customers to maximize profits, minimize waste, and maintain or improve quality.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your co-workers, participating in safety discussions and supporting the company's vision on safety.
  • Schedule production needs for the following day and adjust the current day's schedule as required.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and reporting as needed.
  • Assist in preventative maintenance on the plant, scheduled repairs, and breakdown repairs to eliminate downtime and provide innovative solutions.
  • Operate heavy equipment, such as loaders, manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, and forklifts, as needed, and assist in maintaining equipment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic mechanical skills and knowledge of computers are necessary.
  • Mobile or stationary equipment experience is beneficial, as is experience in the manufacturing or construction industries.
  • Physical demands range from light to heavy, and the work environment includes a control tower, outside areas around industrial equipment, and inside mobile and stationary equipment.
