Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients and provide therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff.
- Administer medications, including immunizing agents and perform skin testing, as prescribed or ordered.
- Perform venipuncture and administer and withdraw intravenous fluids.
- Counsel patients regarding diagnosis and secure health histories.
- Record diagnostic testing, including venipuncture for laboratory studies, visual acuity testing, and electrocardiogram (EKG) procedures.
- Process lab work and maintain accurate logs of reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and JCAHO policy.
- Screen clinical laboratory tests and results, and notify the Physician or Mid-Level Practitioner as needed.
- Ensure sharps are secured, accounted for, stored, and disposed of according to institutional and national policy.
- Assist Physicians and Mid-Level Practitioners in managing chronic care clinics.
- Review clinical records to ensure data is entered legibly and in the appropriate section of the medical record.
- Basic knowledge of treatment of chronic health problems, such as hypertension, diabetes, and asthma.
- Ability to operate EKG, hearing test, Clinitek equipment, and other laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of mental health disorders and ability to screen for gross mood changes.
- Ability to provide basic first aid and preventive care guidance in treating common illnesses and injuries.
- Ability to conduct sick call triage and assign patient appointment times.
This position requires working in a fast-paced healthcare environment with a high level of patient contact. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting and maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive patient information.
CompensationThe hourly rate for this position is $29.46.
