Surgical Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at WVU Medicine. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

• Assist in the preparation and setup of operating rooms for scheduled cases, including the arrangement of instruments and supplies.
• Transport patients to and from the operating room, ensuring their safety and comfort.
• Adhere to strict aseptic and sterile techniques to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
• Pass surgical instruments and sharps to and from surgeons during procedures, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Assist in the cleanup and restocking of operating rooms, including the disposal of trash and linens.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of hire.
• Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or completion of internal WVUM Surg Tech Trainee program with at least 6 months in job or completion of externally accredited Surgical Technology program or completion of a Registered Nurse program or two (2) years of previous scrub experience.

• Three (3) years prior scrub experience.

• Ability to follow strict sterile technique.
• Ability to set up operating room with instruments and supplies for scheduled cases and pass to and from surgeon during procedures.
• Knowledge of and adherence to strict aseptic and sterile techniques.

Primary hours are with possible flexing to as needed based on volume. On call required and must be within 30 minutes of the hospital. On call is every 4-5th weekend and one day a week.
