About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Field Engineering Trainee to join our Maintenance of Way department. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our railroad operations. Our robust new hire trainee program will prepare you to manage inspection, repair, and maintenance of railroad infrastructure.
About the Job: You will lead teams of unionized employees in hands-on, field-oriented tasks. As a Field Engineering Trainee, you will undergo extensive training under experienced supervisors, covering various aspects of railroad operations, including train and track dynamics, track inspection, and construction and maintenance operations.
About the Location: This position is based across our 22-state network, with various training locations available. Relocation for this initial training and future job placements may be required.
About the Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package includes a starting salary of $82,000, increasing to $88,000 upon program completion. Additional benefits include comprehensive health benefits, supervisor pension program, 401k match, and railroad retirement.
About the Work Environment: This outdoor/field-based position requires working in all weather conditions, shift work, on-call, and weekend work. Extensive travel and relocation during employment are expected. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary.
About the Requirements: Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Biosystems Engineering. Relevant majors considered, or equivalent leadership experience (e.g., military, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, production environments).
