Mortgage Lending Officer Role Overview

The Mortgage Lending Officer role is a dynamic and challenging position that requires a strong understanding of mortgage lending principles and practices. As a Mortgage Lending Officer, you will be responsible for originating high-quality residential real estate loans for clients, providing exceptional customer service, and driving mortgage sales and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Consult with customers to understand their financial situation, goals, and lending needs.
  • Analyze financial information to assess the customer's eligibility for a particular lending solution.
  • Make recommendations to customers about the best lending solutions to meet their financial and personal objectives.
  • Advise customers about the consequences, risks, and benefits of alternative lending solutions.
  • Promote Citi's brand and financial services to real estate agencies, builders, and other referral sources.
  • Visit customers outside of Citi's offices to build relationships and drive mortgage business.
  • Work with internal partners to support and grow customer relationships.
  • Refer customers to other Citi professionals for financial services beyond lending.
  • Partner with Operations teams to ensure seamless loan application processing.
  • Work with Processors/Closers and customers to ensure timely loan closings.
Requirements:
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in mortgage sales or a related field.
  • 3+ years of previous mortgage sales experience required.
  • Residential Mortgage experience required.
  • Established book of business.
  • Proven product sales capability.
  • FHA/VA & conventional loan experience preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and explain financial calculations and pricing alternatives.
  • Ability to communicate with customers about loan requirements.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Strong relationship development and management skills.
  • Expertise in general lending products and mortgage industry.
Education:

Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.
