About the Position

The Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join the Division of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care to patients with cardiovascular disease as part of a multidisciplinary cardiovascular and thoracic surgical team
  • Contribute to medical student and resident education
  • Participate in clinical, health services, translational or basic science research
Requirements
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for their specialty
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain before appointment)
  • Eligible applicants will be fellowship-trained and board certified (or board eligible within five years of completion of fellowship) by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary academic environment
  • Outstanding clinical teaching skills
  • Innovative self-starter with a commitment to excellence
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing and delivering care through a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity and experience with value-based healthcare payment and delivery models
  • Proven track record of academic accomplishment
