About the Role

Cleveland Clinic's Mercy Hospital is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team in a Weekender Flex position. As a key member of our surgical team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scrub functions, including setting up the sterile table and ensuring appropriate supplies, drugs, and equipment are available.
  • Assist RN in counting all sponges, instruments, etc. at appropriate times during surgery.
  • Assist in gowning and gloving surgical team members and draping patients.
  • Ensure aseptic condition is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team through the procedure.
  • Participate in the intraoperative 'timeout.'
  • Collect, identify, and label specimens removed during surgical procedures and give specimens to circulator for disposition.
Requirements
  • Completion of a surgical technology program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES, or completion of a military surgical technology program, or certification as a Surgical Technologist (acceptable certifications for this route are TS-C or CST).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Surgical Technologist.
Physical Requirements

This role requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. It also requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time, occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds, and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > 75 pounds periodically. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, working under stressful conditions of working irregular hours, and some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
