Pharmacy Technician

As a Pharmacy Technician - Advanced Practice at Fairview Health Services, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and accurate preparation and delivery of medications to our patients. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and contribute to the success of our pharmacy team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, label, and deliver medications and supplies accurately and safely, as assigned and in accordance with all legal requirements and policies under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
- Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas, ensuring timely and efficient service.
- Process medication orders or prescriptions and maintain patient profiles accurately in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacy information systems.
- Enter patient information and/or medication orders into the EHR (electronic health record) and/or pharmacy systems, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Operate equipment and use appropriate techniques when using automated medication stations, refilling, inventory tasks, basic reports, and maintenance.
- Audit medication storage areas for proper storage of medications, dating, and appropriate medication stock.
- Assist in processing returns and outdated drugs for return credit.
- As assigned, ensure correct inventory, delivery, and maintenance of files related to controlled substances throughout the hospital.
- Complete work activities through effective management of time, tasks, and available information.
- Teach and mentor co-workers, promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.
- Answer and appropriately triage incoming phone calls to various areas of the pharmacy department and/or staff.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, and families, using all options available, including email and in-person interactions.
- Meet and comply with all initial and ongoing competencies within the entity and department.
- Completion of an accredited ASHP/ACPE Pharmacy Technician Training Program or three months of pharmacy technician experience required or a bachelor's degree.
- Current registration by the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy, and if first registered on/after 1/1/2013, completion of a MNBOP (Minnesota Board of Pharmacy) approved employer-based or vocational/technical training program.
- Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certification, or expectation to attain within 12 months of hire.
- Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem-solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills, and excellent communication skills.
