Job Summary

The Respiratory Therapist II - Critical Care Specialist is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering high-quality patient care in critical care areas. This role requires a strong foundation in respiratory care, with a focus on medication administration, patient assessment, and education.

Core Responsibilities
  • Provides Customer Service
    • Delivers exceptional patient care, documentation, and education
    • Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure a positive patient experience
    • Participates in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient satisfaction
  • Administers Quality Patient Care
    • Performs patient assessments to determine therapy needs
    • Collaborates with healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans
    • Administers aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, and oxygen therapy as needed
  • Provides Safe Quality Environment
    • Ensures accurate and up-to-date electronic orders, charting, and charging
    • Participates in performance improvement initiatives to promote quality care
    • Reviews and implements revised and new departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Education
    • Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with a minimum of 20 quarter hours of science
  • License and Certification
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification
    • Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) certification
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience
    • 0-2 years of clinical experience with a minimum of 6 months in critical care
  • Skills
    • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with physicians and other healthcare professionals
    • Computer skills, including familiarity with databases
