Position Title: Advanced Practice Nurse - Float Position

Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Advanced Practice - Adult and Family Medicine

Position Summary: The Advanced Practice Nurse is responsible for delivering and overseeing a high caliber of healthcare services to patients within their specialty area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivers patient care at designated locations to ensure comprehensive coverage, particularly for mobile clinics or solo provider settings.
  • Manages direct patient care, which includes conducting physical exams, evaluations, assessments, and diagnostic tests, as well as providing treatment within the established scope of practice.
  • Prescribes medications and treatment plans as deemed appropriate.
  • Refers patients to specialists and other relevant healthcare services as necessary.
  • Coordinates patient care activities among nursing staff, care coordinators, and support personnel.
  • Ensures timely completion of tasks, including patient labs, imaging, reports, and necessary documentation.
  • Maintains accurate patient records and ensures proper billing information is recorded.
  • Engages in health promotion, education, and prevention initiatives as appropriate.
  • Contributes to regular peer review and provides constructive feedback to fellow medical providers.
  • Facilitates training and mentorship to enhance the professional skills and competencies of clinical staff.
  • Participates in ongoing medical education to sustain professional knowledge and skills.
  • Involves in the education of clinical students and community partners in accordance with established medical education guidelines.

Minimum Required Qualifications - Education, Experience, Certifications & Licenses:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • A minimum of two years of clinical experience.
  • Current Nurse Practitioner license in the state of Arizona.
  • Board Certification relevant to the specific position.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and Proof of Insurance may be necessary for mileage reimbursement.
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • Ability to understand and create effective instructions and communications in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information in one-on-one and small group settings to patients and staff.
  • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional ability to exert force to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Constant mobility within the workplace to assist patients and operate medical equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for operating computers and office machinery.
  • Close visual acuity for accurate record-keeping and information review.
  • Ability to discern sounds at normal speaking volume.
  • Physical capability to lift and move adult patients as needed.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in medical mathematics, including dosage calculations and general math.
  • Adept at gathering and analyzing data.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments and make independent decisions.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and managing challenges under pressure.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and corporate compliance.
  • Familiarity with current medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment methods.
  • Understanding of evidence-based preventative care practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant medications and non-pharmaceutical aids.
  • Familiarity with healthcare plans and community health services.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Ability to motivate and lead staff through training and mentorship.
  • Capability to develop and deliver educational programs and workshops.
  • Effective in prioritizing tasks and planning work activities efficiently.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment is typical of a healthcare clinic, with potential exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials.
  • Occasional use of medical equipment, including needles, and proximity to electrical devices.
  • Reliable transportation is required for occasional travel and extended hours, including early mornings and weekends.
  • Availability to be contacted via cell phone during and outside of standard working hours is necessary.
