The Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford seeks a skilled Gallery Director/Curator to oversee the daily operations of the Joseloff and Silpe art galleries. This is a full-time position that requires a strong background in art curation, exhibition management, and collection care.
Key Responsibilities:- Curate and present regional and national exhibitions
- Manage the School's art collection through the Kaman Print Study Center
- Develop and implement exhibition budgets and schedules
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to integrate exhibitions with academic programs
- Supervise student assistants and interns
- Develop and maintain relationships with artists, collectors, and art organizations
- Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field
- Minimum of three years' experience in a position of responsibility at an art organization
- Excellent public relations and writing skills
- Experience in exhibition installation and de-installation, art handling and storage, and collection management
- Demonstrated skill in the management of an art museum, university gallery, or other non-profit arts organization
- Demonstrated grant-writing and development skills
- Demonstrated supervisory skills
- Competencies in social media and collections management software
