Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Part Time Security Officer to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protective services and response to protect people and property through patrol, investigation, and monitoring of alarms and surveillance cameras.
  • Patrol buildings and grounds to identify and address potential safety hazards and security risks.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by interacting with patients, visitors, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Respond to emergency situations and use verbal de-escalation skills to calm situations as needed.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations into thefts, shortages, and other complaints involving potential misconduct.
  • Provide escorts for staff, visitors, and patients as requested.
  • Assist clinical teams with patient restraints and maintain accountability for valuables and property.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required; a strong educational background in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of security or related experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's license.
  • Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid, Narcan (Naloxone) Training, and AVADE De-Escalation Training.

  • Ability to gather, analyze, evaluate, and utilize facts and evidence.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and routine correspondence.
Working Conditions

The Security Officer will be required to stand/walk for a minimum of 8 hours and be able to lift 50 pounds. Strong sight and hearing abilities are necessary to effectively deal with diverse and emergency situations. The ability to use appropriate force to overcome, arrest, or restrain someone if necessary is also required.
