Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protective services to people and property, responding to routine and emergency calls for service.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the department, performing daily operational functions as directed.
  • Respond to emergency situations, utilizing strong customer service skills and community policing philosophies to develop and build strong relationships with the hospital community.
  • Conduct initial investigations into all reports of suspicious activity, persons, hazards or risk, and take necessary steps to mitigate risk.
  • Perform access control functions, including ensuring that all employees, vendors, and contractors are in possession of an authorized form of identification.
  • Perform Dispatch and/or Console duties as assigned, coordinating Security activities and acting as liaison to other McLean departments and external agencies.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required; a strong educational background in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of security or related experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Drivers License.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, CPI De-Escalation Training, and International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification.

  • Customer service skills, with the ability to handle a variety of diverse and stressful situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
Work Environment

The Security Officer will work on a part-time basis, with a 16-hour shift on Saturday and Sunday during the evening hours. The successful candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
