The Clinical Nurse plays a pivotal role in assessing, coordinating, planning, directing, implementing, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their care journey, emphasizing progress toward discharge, particularly during transitions within the acute care setting. This position is accountable for the delivery and coordination of patient care executed by the caregiving team. The Clinical Nurse ensures that competent and compassionate care is consistently provided to all stakeholders, including referring facilities, hospital staff, and patients across inpatient, ambulatory, and community environments.

The Medical Cardiology unit comprises a 29-bed facility featuring 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms, and one 4-bedroom area. Patients are admitted from various sources, including the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities when inpatient admission is warranted. The patient demographic includes both male and female individuals, ranging from acute to chronically ill, with diverse cardiac and medical conditions. Most patients require telemetry monitoring following minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac interventions, spanning from young adults (18 years) to geriatric patients.

Hourly Compensation: $60.93

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, perform treatments, procedures, and special tests, while documenting as per company policy and local/state/federal regulations.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and responses to care provided.
  • Utilize sound nursing judgment in managing patient care decisions.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for both occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as directed.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop a comprehensive Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Guide and direct ancillary personnel while maintaining professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program resulting in a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Baccalaureate Degree.
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained and maintained.
  • Prior experience as a PCA or in a nursing assistance role is preferred.
  • Commitment to enhancing job performance through ongoing education.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools, with the ability to apply them in support of departmental and patient care quality improvement.
