Position Overview:
The Clinical Pharmacist I plays a crucial role in ensuring optimal patient care through the comprehensive review and monitoring of therapeutic plans. This includes evaluating treatment appropriateness based on established clinical and institutional guidelines, as well as individual patient criteria.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patient medication regimens to identify treatment-related issues and potential medication misuse.
- Ensure all medication orders comply with the standards and practice guidelines of the AHS Cancer Center.
- Provide expert advice to healthcare professionals regarding drug selection, tailored to enhance drug therapy based on specific patient factors such as laboratory results and clinical status.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols in the preparation and handling of chemotherapy and hazardous substances, following current guidelines (USP 797, USP 800, ASHP, NIOSH).
- Engage in educational initiatives and respond to inquiries related to drug information.
- Contribute to the training and mentoring of pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, technicians, and pharmacy students.
- Participate in quality improvement, safety, and project initiatives related to oncology services in outpatient settings.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited pharmacy school.
- Possession of a current NJ Board of Pharmacy license.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a specialized area of pharmacy practice, or completion of a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency, or a PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in a specialized field.
