Position Overview

Targeted Hourly Compensation: Minimum $22 to a maximum $25

Role Purpose:

The Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing specialized transportation and disposal services for hazardous materials. Key responsibilities include manifesting, packaging, spill response, labeling, loading/unloading, coordinating transportation, and sampling/profiling materials in compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations at both state and federal levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct sampling of waste streams in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage manifesting, packaging, spill clean-up, labeling, loading, and transportation coordination.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while addressing client inquiries and proposing solutions to potential issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and procedural regulations as per Veolia’s policies.
  • Familiarize oneself with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations necessary for the expedited disposal of hazardous waste.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain all equipment efficiently to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) is required.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong team collaboration skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple deadlines.
  • Customer service-oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Capability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
