Key Responsibilities:
- Exhibit commitment to the organization's mission, values, and ethical standards.
- Interpret physician orders, assess arterial blood gases, and analyze patient data to determine respiratory conditions.
- Set up and manage various respiratory care apparatus, including mechanical ventilators and therapeutic gas delivery systems, adhering to treatment protocols. Administer prescribed therapies using devices such as nebulizers and oxygen delivery systems to enhance patient respiratory function.
- With proper authorization, perform arterial punctures and operate blood gas analyzers to evaluate respiratory efficiency and metabolic status.
- Monitor patients' physiological responses to treatment, including vital signs and blood gas levels, and consult with physicians regarding any adverse reactions.
- Conduct chest physiotherapy techniques, including percussion and postural drainage, to facilitate mucus clearance and maintain airway patency.
- Perform pulmonary function assessments to evaluate airflow dynamics and respiratory capacity.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in providing direct respiratory therapy to patients is preferred; experience in acute care or skilled nursing settings is advantageous.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted California Respiratory License, accredited by the NBRC.
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program is preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support certification is required.
