Phlebotomy Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant performs venipuncture and related procedures following policies and procedures established by the laboratory department and Alleghany Health. The incumbent collects COC Urine Drug Screens, provides assistance to MLT, MT, and Laboratory Director, maintains supply inventory for phlebotomy, and performs EMR Order Entry.
Responsibilities- Collects COC Urine Drug Screens
- Provides assistance to MLT, MT, and Laboratory Director
- Maintains supply inventory for phlebotomy
- Performs EMR Order Entry
- Supports clinic with waived testing, including urinalysis dipstick, strep, flu, pregnancy, Hgb, glucose, etc.
- Completes patient EKGs, rooms patients, obtains patient vital signs, cleans rooms, and restocks clinic supplies
- Graduate from high school or equivalent
- Mathematical, verbal, and writing skills at the high school level
- Phlebotomy certification
- CPR certification not required
- Completion of general and job-specific competencies
- Prior experience preferred but not required
The incumbent will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, interacting with patients, staff, and physicians. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude is essential.
