Job Description

At MedBridge Development, we are seeking a highly skilled Charge Nurse to join our team at our specialized ambulatory surgery center. As a Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for maintaining the daily supervision of nursing staff, ensuring the smooth flow of the surgery schedule, and providing assistance with breaks and lunches for all clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and direct nursing personnel to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Maintain and oversee the daily flow of procedures, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Provide breaks and lunches for all clinical staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
  • Troubleshoot daily problems that may arise and report to the Director of Clinical Services.
  • Assist the Materials Manager with special equipment procurement and ensure that all necessary supplies are available.
  • Provide nursing care in the Operating Room, Pre-Op, or PACU, as needed.
  • Serve on the QI committee and participate in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and comply with Center confidentiality and PHI policies and practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • File incident reports for any unusual events that occur to patients or staff members.
  • Lead and direct RN staff, providing coaching, training, and development opportunities.
  • Supervise and direct patient care, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed.
  • Act as a liaison between staff, patients, and physicians, promoting effective communication.
  • Coordinate all activities within the recovery room/OR to provide a safe, effective, and timely surgical preop and recovery.
  • Ensure that proper technique and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly, meeting state licensing and Medicare certification regulations.
  • Assess the quality of nursing care by reviewing audit results and chart documentation.
  • Coordinate the employment of qualified personnel for Pre-Op/PACU/OR positions and recommend subordinates for promotions or terminations.
  • Oversee 90-day and annual staff performance evaluations and provide feedback.
  • Follow through with orientation and training of new Pre-Op/PACU/OR staff.
  • Determine the need for Pre-Op/PACU/OR facilities, supplies, and equipment and recommend purchases.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge and discriminative judgment while providing direct or indirect patient care.
  • Reduce the risk of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control and environmental safety practices.
  • Provide a channel of communication between events and team members in the recovery/OR room.
  • Oversee and direct all drug utilization, control, and accountability per policies.
  • Make fiscally responsible decisions around facilities, supplies, and staffing that support the financial and operational growth of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of California.
  • Current BLS certificate.
  • Current ACLS certificate. PALS, if applicable.
  • At least 2 years of nursing experience.
  • Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
