Job Summary

The Automotive/Diesel Instructor will provide instruction for students enrolled in auto/diesel courses, including dual credit high school students. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses, as required. Additionally, they will help coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings, attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills, and assist in the development of curriculum as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage students in the learning process through active instruction and mentorship
  • Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor in the workplace
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and trends in education
  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
  • Develop and implement curriculum as needed
  • Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
  • Associate degree or diploma in automotive/diesel technology or related field
  • Demonstrated recent industry experience with a strong background in electrical/electronics, hydraulics, brakes, suspensions, automatic transmission, engines, and powertrains
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies and pedagogical strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good time management skills
Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in higher education, related field certifications, and industry experience
