Position Purpose: The Buyer II role is pivotal in managing the procurement of materials, services, and equipment within the designated purchasing portfolio. This position ensures compliance with established procurement policies and guidelines, facilitating a seamless and timely supply chain at optimal costs while adhering to specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily reviews of customer orders.
- Engage with potential suppliers, perform reference checks, assess quotations, and evaluate purchase requisitions to determine the most suitable procurement methods.
- Verify the accuracy of purchase orders.
- Assess purchase requisitions for correctness and convert them into purchase orders.
- Set priorities for assigned commodities in collaboration with key suppliers, ensuring these priorities are upheld.
- Maintain effective communication with both internal teams and external clients.
- Interface with various management levels internally and externally.
- Continuously seek opportunities to reduce costs associated with assigned commodities.
- Collaborate with the engineering department to assist in sourcing materials, focusing on cost, quality, and availability.
- Generate reports in accordance with specified processes to measure key buyer performance metrics.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- 2-3+ years of experience in a similar role.
- High School Diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in procurement or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in software applications, including MS Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in a foreign language is advantageous; English is essential.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with MRP and ERP systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing environments and material costing.
- Knowledge of market analysis and supplier relationship management.
- 2-4 year college degree or higher in business or a related field.
