Life Science People is collaborating with a well-capitalized organization in search of a talented Systems Software Engineer to enhance a dedicated team of engineers.

This team is at the forefront of integrating laboratory automation, high-throughput assays, and machine learning, transforming biological discovery into a digital format. Their primary focus is on creating a comprehensive cloud platform designed for the storage, visualization, and analysis of data derived from biological experiments. This innovative platform is currently utilized by numerous biotech firms and a vast network of scientists, facilitating advancements in areas such as drug discovery and bioproduction.

Position Overview

In this capacity, you will concentrate on developing functionalities that enable scientists globally to expedite their biological research endeavors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Web Development: Crafting user-friendly and responsive web interfaces utilizing React for effective data visualization and analysis.
  • Systems Programming: Enhancing and overseeing data pipelines and computational workflows using Python and GoLang.
  • Database Management: Designing and sustaining efficient Postgres database solutions for the storage and retrieval of biological data.
  • Algorithm Development: Creating and executing sophisticated algorithms to interpret and analyze high-throughput assay data.
  • Cloud Architecture: Planning and managing scalable AWS cloud infrastructure employing Terraform, Kustomize, Packer, and Kubernetes.

Technologies Utilized

  • Programming Languages: Proficient in Python and TypeScript, with some experience in GoLang and Rust.
  • Additional Tools: Familiarity with Postgres, AWS services (S3, EC2, ECR, RDS, SQS, etc.), GraphQL, Terraform, Kustomize, Packer, Kubernetes, and React.

  • Operating Systems, Software Correctness, Concurrency, Low-Level Programming, Distributed Systems, Databases, Programming Language Theory, Mathematics, Type Theory, Formal Verification, System Modeling, Logic Programming, Linux Internals, Advanced Web Development, Networking, Security, and Graphics Programming.

Experience in managing significant, high-impact projects, particularly in areas such as ML runtime, as well as strong low-level expertise in CUDA and C++, or a background in mechatronics or robotics engineering, will be advantageous.

Work Environment
