GENERAL OVERVIEW:
The objective of this role is to uphold the quality standards and product availability of all chef-prepared offerings in the kitchen, while also mentoring and training fellow chefs and prep cooks. This individual will be responsible for the preparation and packaging of salads, entrees, soups, and hot case selections, as well as receiving and organizing inventory, assessing production and stock levels, and delivering outstanding customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adheres to established departmental and store protocols and guidelines.
- Guarantees the quality and freshness of all kitchen products and services.
- Manages the appropriate product selection and inventory levels for the kitchen.
- Verifies pricing accuracy and signage for all items, with particular focus on promotional products.
- Ensures the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized daily, meeting company standards for cleanliness and appearance.
- Provides exceptional customer service to all patrons.
- Prepares all chef-prepared items in the kitchen, including salads, entrees, soups, and hot case items, following company recipes.
- Prepares food for special requests and events.
- Handles receiving and stocking of products.
- Trains chefs and prep cooks.
- Creates production sheets based on departmental needs and historical and projected sales.
- Responsible for inventory management and ordering supplies for the kitchen.
- Offers honest, direct, and continuous feedback to team members regarding their performance and areas for improvement.
- Assists as necessary to ensure the overall success of the kitchen.
Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
A high school diploma or GED is preferred; a two-year college or technical school degree is preferred; one year of kitchen experience is preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training that provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Current Food Handler's Permit.
- Enjoyment in working with and handling kitchen products.
- A passion for preparing, cooking, and enjoying food, particularly kitchen items.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions quickly and independently.
- A broad knowledge of food, ingredients, knife skills, and cooking techniques.
- Ability to read and follow recipes.
- Basic math skills for adjusting recipes.
- Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Strong communication skills, including verbal and listening abilities to interact effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to manage conflict professionally and appropriately.

Work is typically performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with potential exposure to hot, cold, and wet conditions. The role requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
