Postdoctoral Researcher in Optics and Photonics

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our Optics and Photonics Group at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will contribute to cutting-edge research and development projects in optics and photonics, collaborating with a diverse team of scientists and engineers.
Key Responsibilities- Support projects as an individual technical contributor and thought leader, applying your expertise in optics and photonics to develop innovative solutions.
- Design and set up complex experiments in various optical laboratories, using software tools to develop modeling and simulation capabilities.
- Perform data analysis and serve as a resource to the group and the lab in your area of technical expertise.
- Teach and mentor staff at all levels, collaborate with others to propose new ideas, and stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in your field.
- Apply your understanding of optics and photonics to develop expertise in new areas in support of various technology programs.
- PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in one of the following areas: Remote Sensing, Microwave and Millimeter Wave Photonics, Optical Communications, Optical System Design, High Energy Laser systems and technologies, Applied Spectroscopy, Optical Materials Characterization, or Advanced Photonics.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience teaching and mentoring others within your field.
- Ability to obtain and Interim Secret to start and a final Secret level security clearance.
