US Oncology, Inc. is expanding its Clinical team and is in search of a dedicated Oncology Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and enhance the continuity of care in accordance with established standards.
  • Conduct health assessments by interviewing patients about their current health status and medical history, while documenting nursing assessments and interventions.
  • Analyze and communicate the results of health assessments, physical examinations, and relevant laboratory and radiographic data to the healthcare provider.
  • Evaluate patient and family needs, providing educational resources and support.
  • Deliver psychosocial support to patients and their families.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the supervision of a physician.
  • Administer medications and blood products accurately, following established protocols.
  • Ensure pre-authorization and necessary consent forms are secured prior to therapy administration.
  • Facilitate dose adjustments by assessing patients and consulting treatment protocols.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and manage central line catheter devices, while maintaining accurate documentation of patient care.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture effectively.
  • Maintain a well-stocked and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to OSHA guidelines when handling hazardous materials.
  • Follow all disinfection protocols and maintain equipment according to quality control standards.
  • Assist in managing patient medication refill requests and ensure proper documentation.
  • Support physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient patient flow in and out of examination rooms.
  • Coordinate consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triaging patient phone calls and documenting relevant information in patient records.
  • Facilitate communication between patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Assist patients in accessing community resources and collaborate with clinical research.
  • Act as a resource for LPNs/LVNs and medical assistants.
  • Provide nursing coverage for satellite offices as needed.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced nurses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Engage in professional development activities to maintain current knowledge in oncology nursing.

Qualifications
  • Education/Training: Graduate from an accredited nursing program. Current RN state license and registration with the State Board of Nursing. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year clinical experience, with oncology experience preferred.
