Job SummaryThe Respiratory Therapist coordinates and delivers high-quality patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with departmental requirements and relevant state and specialty standards. As part of the patient care team, this role performs diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitors patients receiving invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, and administers oxygen delivery, aerosol medication, and chest physiotherapy.
Responsibilities- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for and response to respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient response, notify providers, and intervene as necessary in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 60 months of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 60 months of employment start date.
- Florida CRT License.
- Associate Degree.
- BASIC CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT, or BCLS Instructor certification within 30 days of employment start date.
- Neonate Resuscitation, or STABLE certification within 60 months of employment start date.
