About the PositionWe are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Librarian to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership in the areas of library and resources, working with audio-visual, district faculty, students, and staff in all areas of responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in library science or a related field, experience in a college library, and a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Responsibilities- Supervise, evaluate, and assign classified staff in areas of responsibility.
- Prepare and monitor budgets in the areas of responsibility.
- Provide leadership in building and maintaining a strong print and non-print collection.
- Maintain a current knowledge of trends, technologies, and techniques in information processing and related computer appliances.
- Work cooperatively with other faculty in developing bibliographic instruction and information competency programs across the curriculum.
- Participate in a variety of activities to promote the use of the library by faculty, students, and staff.
- Arrange for delivery of audio/video equipment to classrooms as requested.
- May be assigned to work one or more evenings per week; performs other duties as assigned.
- A master's degree in library science or library and information science; OR the equivalent.
- Experience in a college library.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- Experience as a full-time librarian in a community college.
- Ability to provide leadership in furthering new technologies appropriate to libraries.
- Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, while encouraging their alliance to the library to enhance instruction.
- Ability to provide a strong leadership for the library.
- Experience and working knowledge of library automation; awareness of new technologies, techniques, and networking of resources.
- Experience in the overall supervision of library services and operations, including the implementation of policies and procedures.
- Ability to evaluate and analyze present library operations and determine future direction.
- Experience in developing and monitoring a library budget.
- Demonstration of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Professional experience in one or more of the following library services: cataloging and classification; reference service; acquisition of print and non-print material; circulation; collection development; information competency instruction.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative, productive, and effective working relationships within a shared governance system.
- Possession of a graduate degree in a second subject.
