Paralegal Advocate

We are seeking a highly skilled Paralegal to join our team at Legal Aid of West Virginia. As a Paralegal, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality legal representation to low-income clients in southern and northern West Virginia.

• Provide legal representation to clients in areas such as social security disability, Medicaid, welfare, and food stamps cases.
• Assist clients with domestic violence protective order proceedings and other matters.
• Maintain accurate and complete files or records.
• Interact with clients, staff, and service providers professionally and appropriately.
• Attend and participate in statewide planning meetings, trainings, and task forces.

• An Associate's Degree/Paralegal Certificate and a minimum of 2 years of experience or 4 years of experience.
• Demonstrable commitment to understanding and addressing issues of low-income constituents.
• Skills to use office technologies, including learning LAWV case management software.
• Ability to balance administrative and client advocacy responsibilities.
• Good communication skills, both written and oral.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and work independently.

We offer a competitive salary range of $31,100 – 36,100, a 37.5-hour workweek, paid vacation leave and sick leave, and a generous benefits package. Staff also have the option to participate in a 403(b)-retirement plan and dependent and health flex savings accounts (FSA). We are an eligible nonprofit employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program.
