Job Overview

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Fiduciary Accountant for a fully remote role with our client. The ideal candidate will preferably reside in the tri-state area to facilitate occasional meetings. A strong background in fiduciary accounting within a banking, legal, or public accounting environment is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support attorneys specializing in trusts and estates with the management of trusts, estates, and charitable foundations.
  • Prepare federal and state estate tax returns, including asset valuation.
  • Compile federal and state fiduciary income tax returns for various trusts, including charitable remainder unitrusts and estates.
  • Generate federal gift tax returns and personal federal and state income tax returns.
  • Prepare information returns for charitable organizations.
  • Calculate commissions for executors and trustees.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial records for all transactions related to estates and trusts from inception to conclusion.
  • Draft detailed accountings for estates and trusts for both judicial and non-judicial settlements.
  • Track and compute all taxes due, including estimated income tax payments.
  • Prepare related tax calculations and projections for strategic planning.
  • Engage in federal and state audits of tax returns.
  • Provide financial data to attorneys and paralegals as required.
  • Organize and maintain tax and accounting documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a fiduciary accountant in a banking, legal, or public accounting setting.
  • Familiarity with Thomson Reuters FPS (Onesource) Estate and Gift Tax and Accounting software.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records across multiple cases.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
