Diesel Mechanic Technician

The Diesel Mechanic Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports and works with personnel within various departments to ensure the safe and efficient operation of company/utility equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect and repair company/utility equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, digger dericks, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Troubleshoot diesel and gas engines to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
- Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies as needed.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports to track progress and ensure compliance.
- Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe, and presentable manner.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle and equipment repair, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to do tune-ups, engine work, hydraulic work, cylinder replacing, pressure setting for backhoes, basic engine repair, and electric repair.
- Basic diesel and drive train experience.
- Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
- Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
- Ability to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to work a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7am to 5:30pm.
- 6 or more years of experience in vehicle and equipment repair.
- DOT Certified Flagger.
- CDL Class A license.
- Formal education or training in mechanical equipment repair.
- Air brake certification.
