Nuclear Medicine Technologist Position

Albany, New York, United States Travel Nurse Across America Full time

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Travel Nurse Across America. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will be responsible for preparing radiopharmaceutical agents and administering them to patients prior to using a scanner or camera to capture images.

The ideal candidate will have 1 year of experience and hold certifications from the AART or NMTCB, as well as state-specific licensing when required. You will also be responsible for providing technical support to physicians and researchers, and maintaining accurate patient records.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Attaining required approval and signature by nuclear medicine physicians
  • Transferring, positioning, and instructing patients in preparation for procedures
  • Operating the scanner or gamma scintillation camera
  • Performing procedures including injecting radiopharmaceuticals under the direct supervision of a radiologist
  • Providing assistance to patients during procedures
  • Ensuring the environment is safe at all times for patients and staff by following safety and radiation disposal procedures
  • Maintaining accurate patient records
  • Understanding and using the McKesson PACS system

Requirements include:

  • 1 year of experience
  • ARRT (N), BLS, NMTCB, and state-specific licensing when required
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean or stoop without difficulty
  • Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology
