1. Patient Assessment: Utilize comprehensive knowledge of developmental stages from Pediatric to Geriatric to deliver appropriate patient care. Conduct thorough and systematic assessments that are accurate and complete.
2. Clinical Proficiency: Exhibit consistent clinical skills by performing direct patient care activities that support effective patient care delivery and teamwork. Provide skilled nursing care tailored to the specific patient population.
3. Documentation: Ensure complete and precise documentation in accordance with established guidelines. Take primary responsibility for documenting the nursing process and patient progress in their medical records, including patient education.
4. Professional Standards: Uphold professional practice responsibilities by understanding policies and procedures while identifying areas for clinical and professional development.
5. Patient Satisfaction: Engage with patients, families, and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner, fostering an environment centered on patient care and collaboration.
6. Safety Protocols: Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, including the use of Universal Protocol and patient identification methods. Employ safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
7. Unit-Specific Knowledge: Demonstrate familiarity with conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment related to surgical patients. Customize patient care based on the type of procedure and anesthesia.
8. Accountability: Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care based on individual needs and changes in condition.
9. Patient Education: Assess and enhance patient understanding of surgical procedures, actively involving patients and families in the educational process.
10. Pre-Admission Testing: Support timely completion of patient testing and evaluate orders for appropriateness based on the proposed surgery and patient health status.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience
- BLS Certification - Required
- RN License - Required
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associates or Bachelor's Degree preferred)
- Language Proficiency: English (Speak, Read, Write)
