Position Overview:

The Environmental Engineering Department Lead at Tetra Tech is a pivotal role requiring a minimum of 15 years of expertise in environmental and remediation projects. This position is integral to the successful execution of projects, particularly those aimed at Department of Defense clients.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Seller-Doer, you will:

  • Oversee and coordinate the efforts of multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire project lifecycle.
  • Manage technical personnel, including responsibilities for hiring, budgeting, performance evaluations, and establishing departmental objectives.
  • Administer project financials, encompassing budgets, costs, and contingencies.
  • Generate project-level financial progress reports.
  • Prepare and supervise scopes, schedules, and budgets for all projects.
  • Identify and allocate suitable resources for the successful execution of individual projects.
  • Engage in technical work, which includes engineering design, drawing review, and quality assurance/control.
  • Assist clients in strategic planning to prioritize projects effectively.
  • Facilitate regulatory relations, negotiations, and conduct meetings while providing routine reporting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships that support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Implement risk management procedures effectively.
  • Prepare and present regular program progress reports and presentations to various stakeholders.
  • Conduct value engineering reviews and project cost assessments.
  • Monitor health and safety aspects of projects, recommending changes as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance procedures and suggest improvements.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A BS degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in the environmental consulting sector.
  • A professional engineering license (e.g., PE).
  • Familiarity with local and federal environmental regulations is preferred.
  • Experience with CERCLA is advantageous.
  • Experience with governmental projects is beneficial but not essential.
  • Proven experience in preparing technical deliverables.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to balance direct and indirect utilization rates.
  • 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour refresher training is preferred.
  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in delivering technical and business presentations.
  • A track record of successful external customer engagements and maintaining client relationships.
  • Strong skills in client retention and business development.
