Position Overview:

The Activity Therapist (AT) plays a crucial role in enhancing the physical and emotional health of patients in day treatment. Under the guidance of the Clinical Services Manager, the AT employs a diverse range of activities including art, music, games, drama, movement, and relaxation techniques to foster well-being.

As a vital member of the interdisciplinary team, the AT ensures that group activities align with the program's philosophy and evidence-based practices. This role requires certification in Ohio as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, Recreational Therapist, or Expressive Therapist, allowing for both group and individual sessions.

The AT exemplifies the values of Dayton Children's through effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues, ensuring high-quality care.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize various therapeutic activities to support patient development.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to design and implement engaging programs.
  • Demonstrate effective customer service skills while interacting with children and adolescents facing behavioral health challenges.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (Required)
  • Preferred: 2-5 years of experience in pediatric behavioral health settings.
  • Pool position, as needed; no benefits or PTO.

Certification/License Requirements:
  • Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
  • Board Certified Dance/Movement Therapist
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
  • Music Therapist Board Certified (MT-BC)
  • Occupational Therapy Assistant certification
