Job Summary

The Field Engineer will be responsible for installing and operating low-voltage/structured cabling systems and equipment. They will have a proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems in a senior service support role, including testing, troubleshooting of system components and functions, and field verification of connections, labels, installation, and work quality.
  • Understand advanced system drawings, specifications, and technical manuals, and create shop drawings and submittals for new project kick-off.
  • Manage the technical work in the field with little supervision, including work both in-house and in the field when required.
  • Assume ownership of project installation, providing advanced support for field installation staff, and assist with maintaining and completing project punch-lists for project close-outs.
  • Oversee the technical aspects of projects, quality-checking projects, testing all equipment and functionality, and creating punch lists.
  • Assist sales staff as needed with product and system demonstrations.

  • Ability to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • At least 3-4 years of commercial low voltage/structured cabling experience.
  • Ability to work well with other people.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).
  • Meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop detailed associated tasks, and manage these to final completion and customer turnover.
