Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our team at UNC Health Care. As a Histotechnologist, you will play a critical role in preparing tissue samples for pathologists to determine the cause of death, disease, and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate equipment malfunctions, test results, and specimen issues.
- Participate in teams or special projects.
- Perform quality control and equipment maintenance.
- Prepare tissue slides by processing, embedding, sectioning, examining, and staining tissues.
- Teach Clinical Laboratory Science students and Pathology residents.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to co-workers.
- Report results to healthcare providers and consult with them regarding test results.
- Review test results for accuracy and timeliness.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry Science, or Biological Science.
HTL(ASCP) certification within two years from date of hire.
One year of relevant laboratory experience for Bachelor degree in biological or chemical science.
Work Environment
Evening shift, Monday-Friday, 4 hours a day.
20 hours per week.
Exempt from overtime.
Onsite work assignment.
Salary range: $24.13-$34.70.
