Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Peer Support Specialist to contribute to our mission. This role is ideal for individuals who possess valuable lived experiences rather than formal qualifications in behavioral health. Candidates should have personal insights into navigating the behavioral health system and a desire to assist others on their recovery journeys.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients in community settings, assisting them in identifying suitable next steps regarding their housing needs and developing personalized housing treatment plans.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with a wide range of community resources, including shelters and assessment centers, while actively participating in clinical team meetings to ensure coordinated care.
- Document interactions and progress accurately in client records, utilizing our electronic records system and other relevant databases.
- Provide peer support by helping clients create and execute self-directed recovery plans, sharing personal experiences, and teaching self-management techniques.
- Demonstrate proficiency in various essential areas, including risk assessment, crisis intervention, trauma-informed care, and the principles of the Housing First model.
- Exhibit the ability to remain composed in crisis situations, work both independently and collaboratively, and relate empathetically to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Uphold professional standards consistent with ethical practices and organizational policies.
- Maintain positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and community partners.
- Possess a valid driver's license and appropriate insurance if driving is required for agency-related activities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; a Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with severely mentally ill adults is essential.
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist is mandatory.
- Must have firsthand experience receiving behavioral health services.
- Ability to communicate personal experiences effectively is crucial.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
- Fingerprint clearance card or eligibility to obtain one is required.
- Bi-lingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
